Anta do Cão do Ribeiro em 3D

This model represents a prehistoric tomb, 5000 years old, located in Moitas (Proença-a-Nova). The pillars, placed in a vertical position, define a funerary chamber, polygonal, and an access corridor to its interior. The orthostatic structure of the corridor and atrium, on the south side, was rebuilt after excavation with a dry stone wall. On the north side, the pillar of the chamber adjacent to the corridor and the pillar of the corridor adjacent to the chamber are not original. It was surrounded by a circular mound of clay (mamoa). Archaeologist Georg Leisner was responsible for identifying this tomb in the first half of the 20th century. An archaeological excavation was carried out in 2012-13, guided by archaeologist João Caninas, from the Associação de Estudos do Alto Tejo, within the scope of the 1st Archaeological Field of Proença-a-Nova, which revealed artefacts, such as tools in chipped and polished stone. Work carried out within the framework of the FLUC Laboratory Archeology chair by: Ana Ribeiro, Leonor Vale and Miguel Rodrigues.
